The Partille World Cup has been certified as a Sustainable Event

Deltagare i Partille World Cup äter på skola. På bordet står skylt om det globala problemet med matsvinn, en uppmaning att inte tar mer mat än man äter upp.

The Partille World Cup is a Greentime-certified sustainable event. The certification was awarded following an audit carried out whilst the Partille World Cup was taking place in Gothenburg.
– For us, sustainability issues are at the heart of how we develop the event. The certification is proof that we are doing a lot of things right. It is also an incentive to take new steps, says Fredrik Andersson, Secretary General of the Partille World Cup.

The Partille World Cup creates experiences to last a lifetime – experiences that enable participants to make new friends from other countries and gain an understanding of other cultures through handball. This year, the tournament in Gothenburg is attracting 1,400 teams from 36 nations, with a total of 23,500 participants in attendance.
– The organisers behind the Partille World Cup are demonstrating that it is possible to stage a world-class event whilst pursuing sustainability efforts in a systematic and transparent manner. The Partille World Cup has been approved as a Certified Sustainable Event by Greentime, thereby demonstrating that it meets high standards and is actively working to develop its sustainability efforts. We hope that their commitment will inspire more organisers, both in Sweden and internationally, to take the same steps, says Simon Strandvik, CEO of Greentime.

The tournament has centred its sustainability efforts around the ‘Celebrate’ concept, with the sub-themes ‘Celebrate the Planet’, ‘Celebrate the People’ and ‘Celebrate the Game’.
– ‘Celebrate’ has helped us make sustainability work a natural part of the tournament – both for us as an organisation and for all participants. We’re highlighting issues that are important and where we can actually make a difference, and the hope is that these will be taken home along with all the wonderful memories from the week, says Emelie Jacobsson, sustainability manager at the Partille World Cup.
– That way, we’re not just becoming a more sustainable event, but we’re also getting the chance to inspire and influence tens of thousands of young people from all over the world.”
