The Partille World Cup will break records in 2026. A total of 1,400 teams from 36 countries are participating in the tournament.
– Despite a 30 percent increase in the teams’ travel and other expenses since the pandemic, participants are still choosing to travel from all over the world to take part, says Fredrik Andersson, secretary general, Partille World Cup.
The effects of the pandemic have finally subsided. The Partille World Cup has set a new record for the number of teams. The previous record was set in 2019, when the tournament celebrated its 50th anniversary. At that time, 1,379 teams participated.
– This shows just how important the tournament is. We’re breaking records despite all the turmoil in the world, uncertainty surrounding travel, and the economic downturn. It also feels especially important in times like these for young people to grow by experiencing other cultures and making friends from other countries, says Fredrik Andersson.
We are creating the world’s largest meeting place for young handball players. A place independent of ethnicity, culture, or gender. A meeting place where mutual respect and understanding are the foundation, and playing handball with thousands of other young people is the tool to fulfill our dreams.
